Stroke

A loved one having a stroke is a scary experience, and it can be devastating.

Stroke is such a scary thing because you can be healthy, walking around, living your life at any age and all of a sudden you can't speak or move. Teddy Bruschi is the most recent poster child of the casue.
There has been a large advertising campaing, the "Think F.a.s.t." slogan:

Face. Is it numb? Does the smile suddenly sag or droop on one side?

Arm. Is one arm weak? Can both be raised easily?

Speech. Is a simple sentence like, "The sky is blue," slurred or jumbled?

Time. Call 911, even if there's an improvement in condition.

If you act quickly depending on the type of stroke an intervention can be done within the first 3 hours of onset of symptoms.

More information can be found at the American Stroke Foundation website.
